Black rice contains antioxidants and polysaccharides to soothe and calm skin, restores elasticity and helps reduce fine lines. The black rice mask is created to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while helping to leave skin exceptionally soft and supple.
Black rice gets its dark color from the presence of flavonoid pigments known as anthocyanins, plant based pigments with strong antioxidant properties. Anthocyanins are the same pigments that give many dark red and purple berries such as blackberries, dark cherries, and raspberries their rich color and health benefits.
Anthyocyanins are being studied for their role in preventing a variety of chronic diseases including cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s disease. Much of their benefit appears to stem from their anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
The rice also contains more vitamin B, niacin, vitamin E, calcium, magnesium, iron, and zinc than white rice.

Hibiscus is the name given to more than 250 species of herbs, shrubs, and trees of the mallow or Malvaceae family. The most commonly used species of hibiscus for medicinal purposes are Hibiscus sabdariffa, commonly known as the roselle; Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, also called China rose and common hibiscus; and Hibiscus syriacus, known as the Rose of Sharon.
These three shrubs are native to tropical climates, but are now grown around the world. Hibiscus is renowned for its beauty as well as its medicinal uses, and gardeners cultivate the plant for its showy flowers.
Below are the scientific and traditional properties of the hibiscus flower:
It is used for various allergic eczemas and other skin conditions.
It has possibilities due to the I-hydroxy-acids, anthocyanocides and mucilage contained, as the I-hydroxy-acids act on the horny layer of the skin, to reduce the cohesion between the corneocytes, which affects the thickness of the layer and increases skin moisture. This improves skin flexibility and elasticity, as well as creates higher moisture levels in the skin.
The anthocyanocides again have astringent, anti-inflammatory, and free radical scavenging, as well as enzyme inhibition properties – and is especially useful to inhibit elastase and hyaluronidase.
Finally, the high mucilage content enhances the retention of the skin’s hydric content.
This makes the hibiscus flower useful against the effects of aging, due to the power of the I-hydroxy-acids, together with the moisturizing ability of the mucilage’s in combination with the astringent, anti-inflammatory and free radical scavenger properties of the anthocyanocides.
Roselle
More than three centuries ago the Roselle plant (Hibiscus sabdariffa L) was introduced into Malaysia from India. This pretty plant with dark red flowers, and unique healing powers, very quickly adapted to the fertile soil and tropical climate, and now grows wild throughout the country.
The red Roselle flower has high vitamin content, containing vitamin C, fruit acids, calcium, iron, potassium as well as antosianin, and has long been used in traditional medicine and local delicacies. It is known to benefit the kidney system, lower blood-sugar levels, and have diuretic and anti-inflammatory properties. It forms natural collagen and assists in vitamin absorption thus improving complexion, and assisting with anti-aging.
Hibiscus is a natural emollient, used for softening or healing the skin. The leaves and flowers of the roselle are used all around the world for their emollient qualities. When the leaves are heated, they can be placed on cracked feet or on boils and ulcers to promote healing. Since the herb is a cooling herb, when applied externally it cools the surface of the skin by increasing blood flow to the epidermis and dilating the pores of the skin.
A lotion made from a decoction of hibiscus leaves can be used to soothe hemorrhoids, sunburn, open sores, and wounds.
Our roselle are dried using a high tech Malaysian dehydration process to maintain high concentration of vitamin C. Vitamin C is a natural whitening agent and will also help skin to be supple and moisturized. Roselle extracts also contains a flavonoid pigment called anthocynanin, a non-toxic and non-mutagenic natural red colorant with therapeutic properties that includes treatment of circulatory disorder and inflammatory disease.
